Elmont Engine Co. 703 is one of eight companies that protect the residents of the Elmont fire district, New York . Elmont is in the 7th Battalion of Nassau County bordering Queens F.D.N.Y. The area we cover is one of the most heavily populated and diverse parts of the county. Members of Engine 703 pride themselves on aggressive interior attack, professionalism and training. Elmont Engine 703 has, and always will continue to provide fire protection to the residents of the district and surrounding areas.

Thursday, February 7, 2008 - On Feb 7 at 0349 hrs Elmont E-703 was called to 69 Oakley Ave for a fire in a private dwelling. The chief 7013 went on scene and transmitted a signal for a working fire. E-703 was 1st due and found fire venting from the rear of a 1 story frame private dwelling. The brothers from E-703 started a line and within 10 min had the fire placed under control. A 2nd line was ordered to stand fast at the front door.The men from E-702 were ready with that line. L-708 had the search and opened up with TL-707. All searches were negative and companies were up within an hour.  |

Wednesday, February 6, 2008 - On 2-6-08 at 1410 hrs E-703 and E-702 were special called to the intersection of Hempstead Tpk and Meacham Ave for a car that was struck by a falling traffic light. E-703 was 1st due and found an auto that was crushed by a traffic signal light. There was one person in the vehicle at the time but there was no pin. The driver was transported to an area hospital by Nassau Police Ambulance with minor neck and back injuries.E-703 went available soon after the intersection was secured. The intersection remained closed down for a few hours so that workers could get the traffic light back up and working.  |

Monday, February 4, 2008 - On Feb 4 at 0946 hrs E-703 was assigned to 180 Hunnewell Ave for a reported house fire. As E-703 started out the dispatcher advised them that they were recieving multiple calls with a posible person traped. As E-703 went on scene a signal for a working fire was transmitted for fire on the 1st and 2nd floor of a 2 story frame private dwelling.. The men from E-703 started a line to the front door and knocked the fire down quickly. A 2nd line was put to work on the 2nd floor by E-703 as well. L-708 made the search and opened up. The fire was placed under control within 30 min with all the searches turning up negative..  |

Saturday, July 21, 2007 - On 7/21/07 Elmont Fire Department was called to 2049 Hoffman Ave for a fire in a private dwelling. Asst Chief Schriefer (7011) went on scene first and transmitted a signal for a working fire on the second floor of a two story frame peaked roof p/d 20X40. The first to arrive companies L-707 and E-703 went to work.. Members of the truck opened up and preformed the searches with L-708 and R-1 while E-703 stretched a line to the fire with the assistance of E-702. The brothers from Elmont made quick work of the fire, all searches proved negative. In all two lines were stretched with one line in operation. The fire was placed under control in about 30 min with no extension. All companies were up in one hour..  |

Sunday, July 1, 2007 - On 7/1/07 the Elmont Fire Department was called to 8 Ascan St at 20:53 hrs for fire coming from the roof of a house. When the chief 7010 arrived on scene he transmitted a working fire in a 2 story wood frame private dwelling. Initially reports were that the fire was on the top floor. E-703 stretched the line and stood fast at the front door while the men from L-708 searched for the fire. The fire was quickly located in the basement and E-703 made quick work of it. All searches were negative and the fire was placed under control in 30 minutes. |

Sunday, July 1, 2007 - On 7/1/07 at 13:44 hrs E-703 was assigned to 636 Lenore Ln for a reported house fire. When the chief 7010 went on scene he transmitted the signal for a working fire on the 2nd floor of a 2 story wood frame private dwelling. E-703 was first in and stretched the line to the fire. E-702 had the B/U line. L-708 had the fire floor, they opened up and made the searches. TL-707 and R-705 made the searches on the other floors. All searches were negative and the boys from E-703 made quick work of the fire. The fire was placed under control and all companies were up in 45 minutes.  |

Friday, June 29, 2007 - On 6/29/07 at 13:33 hrs the Elmont Fire Department was alerted for a house fire with people trapped at 181 Holland Ave. As the chief 7012 went on scene he was advised of people trapped. He transmitted the “URGENT” for a working fire with persons trapped. The fire was located on the 2nd floor of a 2 story wood frame private dwelling. On arrival the fire was out two windows in the front and one on the four side. E-702 was first in and stretched the line. E-703 had the B/U line and was put to work as well. L-708, TL-707 and R-705 made the searches and opened up. All searches came up negative. The fire was knocked down and placed under control. All companies were up in 1 hour. |

Thursday, June 28, 2007 - On 6/28/07 at 04:16 hrs E-703 was assigned to 622 Wingate Dr East for a phone alarm reporting a house fire. First on scene was the chief 7010 and reported smoke showing. As E-703 arrived on scene the IC transmitted the working fire. The fire was located on the 2nd floor rear of a 2 story wood frame private dwelling. E-703 started the line and L-708 opened up and made the searches. The fire was contained to a laundry room and we were able to hold with L-708 and E-703 after the fire was knocked down. All searches were negative the fire was placed under control and all companies were up in 30 minutes. |

Wednesday, May 23, 2007 - On 5/23/07 at 19:26 hrs The Elmont Fire Department was called to 256 Lucille Ave for a reported house on fire. E-703 was the first company to respond and transmitted the signal for a working fire in a 2 story wood frame private dwelling 20x40. As the men from E-703 were stretching their line the chief arrived and transmitted the 2nd alarm. The fire was located in the basement and first floor. E-703 was met at the front door by heavy fire. The boys had to make the push all the way to the rear and down the stairs. E-702 had the B/U line and was put to work on the first floor as well. L-708 was the first due truck and had the fire floor they opened up and made the searches along with TL-707 and R-705. All searches were negative and the fire was placed under control. |
